THOSE HELPING

MR. MOHAMED SALEH ZAROUNI OF DUBAI

Mohamed Saleh Zarouni, a Director of the Board of Management of the College, has made tremendous contributions to the progress of the institution. He is an eminent personality who is held in high esteem in his native United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Zarouni Building – situated at the entrance to the College premises and consisting of eleven classrooms – remains a symbol of his generosity and kindness. The Government of the UAE granted five scholarships to MLAC students at the request of Mr. Zarouni at the Al-Ain University in the UAE. The first batch of five students entered the University in 1998. Since then, Mr. Zarouni has arranged for more students to be sent to the University each year.

KHALED ABDULLAH BATAWIL and

AHMED HUSSEIN AL-AMOUDI of JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA

The College remembers with gratitude the numerous contributions made by the two Directors of the Board from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – Mr. Khaled Abdullah Batawil and Mr. Ahmed Hussein Al-Amoudi – who have done yeoman service for the progress of the College during the past several years. The Jeddah Hall, built in 1978 and which accommodates several orphaned children, and the imposing dining hall building, are two large projects executed through the generosity of these two philanthropists.

BAITHUZ ZAKATH, KUWAIT

One of the most important institutional organizations that have been assisting MLAC is Baithuz-Zakath in Kuwait. They are an independent Government Authority which acts as an agent for Muslims in Kuwait who wish to channel their Zakath funds to assist orphans worldwide. MLAC acts as one of four institutions in Sri Lanka that disburses the funds sent by Zakath House in Kuwait to fatherless students. As at January 2008, 46 girls are being maintained by this organization within the College.

The College thanks with gratitude the sponsors in Kuwait and the Zakath House for the valuable contributions made in the maintenance of its orphans.
