The inaugural meeting of the Board of Management of MLAC was held on 6 th December 1958, presided over by a well known Alim and Daaee of that time from South India, Moulavi Al-Haj Kaleel-ur-Rahman.
MLAC was inaugurated in January 1959 as a girls’ school exclusively for the teaching of Arabic and Islam with a roll call of 27 students and one teacher. The College was instituted with the mission to provide for the maintenance, care and education of the children attending, and according to the firmly held principles of its founders, namely:
To administer orphaned and destitute children (Muslim girls) under set rules and procedures so framed
To provide suitable food, clothing and accommodation to these children
To impart Islamic religious training and education as well as literary, scientific and technical education so that they may become responsible and well-adjusted members of society, leading respectable lives and becoming role models for other Muslim girls
To inculcate a sense of belonging to the Muslim ummah in particular and to society in general
